Tanbark Neighborhood Association: Tanbark Annual meeting and dinner September 12 2009

The Tanbark Annual Meeting and Dinner was a success due to the planning and hard work of Phyllis Peters, Vickie Roberston, Katie Neiheisel, Marsha Strein, and their committee. Thanks to Twin Pines Christian Church and Rev. Bennie Braddick for allowing us to use their beautiful new facility. Seventy members made reservations to attend the event which was catered by DaRae and Friends. During the business meeting the treasurer's report from Lenora Gusler confirmed that we remain in good shape in spite of the downturns in the economy, and Rob Wheeler volunteered to serve on the Board. A slate of Board members consisting of Rob Wheeler, Phyllis Peters, Zoya Orlov, David Carpenter, Lenora Gusler, and John Irvin was approved at the meeting. The hotly contested cookie contest was won by Linda Donald's lemon drop entry showing that her areas of expertise include both daylilies and cookies. Thanks to Alex Orlov whose photos of the event are posted on this web site, and thanks to Becky Ray for her twelve years of service to the board. We were afraid that she would might not be willing to volunteer for us in the future until we noticed her pitching in to wash pots
and pans after the dinner.

Tanbark Association of Neighbors (TAN)

Welcome to Tanbark's neighborhood blog. Our neighborhood is a welcoming and caring place, located at the intersection of Tates Creek Road and Man O’War Boulevard. We are made up of families, couples, and singles; retirees and those working hard in their chosen fields; there are plenty of kids, cats, and especially dogs (good dogs!). In 2008, the home of Debbie and John Wagner on Tanbark Road received national attention when it won the Today Show's "Most Spirited Home" Halloween Decorating Contest. That festive spirit permeates Tanbark.

In August of each year we have a parade and a picnic, complete with an intergenerational balloon toss, and other events throughout the year include a Progressive Dinner and our Annual Meeting.

We strive to keep our neighborhood beautiful, with seasonal flowers atop the mailboxes, and fresh plantings at its entrance. In a time and a world where everyone is so busy, our neighbors sincerely care about each other, making it not only a neighborhood, but a community.

TANBARK MISSION STATEMENT

The purpose of this organization, Tanbark Association of Neighbors (TAN), is to provide charitable, civic, educational and social activities for its members. Additional activities should focus on neighborhood improvements that wil maintain and increase the property values and quality of life for all the homeowners in Tanbark neighborhood.

The mission of the officers and Directors of TAN should be to inform the members of current issues that may impact this neighborhood, to encourage all homeowners who are members of TAN to participate in neighborhood activities, and to work cooperatively as a Board to resolve problems and make governing decisions that will be in the best interest of the entire neighborhood.
