Minutes Tanbark Association of Neighbors
May 17, 2011 Meeting
Attendees: Peggy Whyte, Steve Whyte, Zoya Orlov, David Carpenter, Marjorie Leinbach, Tom Ralston, and Lenora Gusler.
· The meeting was called to order by Association President Lenora Gusler.
· Minutes from previous meeting approved with the addition of those present at that previous meeting.
· Treasurer Steve Whyte presented the treasurer’s report with a current balance of $15,369.00.
· A total of 85 families have paid their dues for 2011.
· TAN was successful in receiving a matching $2,500 “Neighborhood Community and Sustainability Grant sponsored by LFUCG that focuses on the Tates Creek/Shagbark Lane entrance.
· The irrigation contractor was notified to provide spring turn-on and system check after the water company turns on the water on May 18th.
· The mowing work and general landscaping/clean up have progressed favorably. The weather along with our lack of receipt of the LFUCG signed contract has postponed some of the landscaping plans and we want to have a plan in place before doing much work at the Tates Creek entrance
· The brick and masonry work locations have been identified and RFP’s have been sent out to contractors. The amount of work to be performed will take place throughout the summer depending on the cost.
· Another drawing incentive for dues payment has been approved. The notice will be included in the upcoming newsletter.
· Steve Whyte encouraged the neighborhood to participate in working at the approved location associated with the LFUCG grant. This would count toward the matching cost required from the neighborhood association.
· Mel and Vickie Robertson have had two deaths in their family in the past few weeks. The Care Committee will be sending flowers.
· The board continued the discussion on having a neighborhood yard sale based on interest. Small banners will be posted at various locations in the neighborhood. Craig’s List and the Lexington Herald will also be utilized to promote the yard sale. The yard sale will be in June. The exact date is to be determined based on response from those interested.
· The Red, White, and Blue Parade will be held on July 9th. The location for the pot luck is TBD depending on the availability of the corner lot on Buttonwood. Steve Whyte learned that the cost of flags is very reasonable. The price range is $40.00 to $110.00 for 144 flags depending on the size. The board voted to approve the purchase not to exceed $110.00.
· The board suggested seeking recommendations (a plan) from a professional landscaper for the work to be done at the Tates Creek Road and Shagbark entrance associated with the neighborhood grant. There will need to be a significant amount of cleanup done prior to any large tree removal and replacement planting.
· Peggy Whyte proposed to have the neighborhood annual meeting in January. The FOP (formerly The Summit) was suggested as the location. In order to move forward with changing to this date, it would be necessary to change the bylaws of the neighborhood association. Proposed language will be included in the next newsletter for TAN members to consider.
· The next meeting will be held on August 16th.
The meeting was adjourned.
