Minutes Tanbark Association of Neighbors
March 15, 2011 Meeting
Attendees: Maria Pennington, Tom Ralston, Linda Little, Steve Whyte, Peggy Whyte, Lenora Gusler, Zoya Orlov, and David Carpenter.
· Meeting was called to order by Association President Lenora Gusler.
· Treasurer Steve Whyte presented the treasurer’s report with a current balance of $13,792.00.
· Mike and Carla Switzer won in the drawing for paying their dues early.
· Steve Whyte suggested that the neighborhood association offer another incentive drawing for dues paid prior to May 15, 2011. The board agreed.
· Steve Whyte submitted an application for a neighborhood and community sustainability grant to the LFUCGG Department of Environmental Quality. Steve received a positive response on April 18th, 2011.
· Steve Whyte lead the discussion related to requests for bids for maintenance on the existing irrigation system, mowing, trimming, and mulching @ entrances, and masonry repairs to existing mailboxes, sidewalks, retaining wall,etc.
· Steve requested and received names of potential contractors. To date the neighborhood association has approved the award of the bid for the irrigation system maintenance to GreenAkers and the mowing and landscaping bid to Pro Cut Lawn and Landscaping.
· There will be no changes to the Care Committee process.
· The board discussed having a neighborhood yard sale. The date and location would be coordinated with Twin Pines Christian Church.
· The neighborhood newsletter was well received per feedback. The next newsletter is scheduled to go out in early spring.
· Steve Whyte and the garden crew (Marge L.) along with the neighborhood are well pleased with the progress of the flowers, etc. The rain has certainly kept things very green.
· The Red, White, and Blue Parade was proposed to be held on July 9th. The location is TBD depending on the availability of the corner lot on Buttonwood. Steve and Peggy Whyte are investigating the purchasing of flags by individuals in the neighborhood. The Boy Scouts may be a resource.
· Maria Pennington inquired about constructing “Bat Houses” for the neighborhood as a means to control mosquitoes.
